What is Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of essential oils ( plant essences) to bring about a state of well being
by relieving stress and promoting vitality.
Aromatherapy was used extensively by many ancient civilisations including the Egyptians, Romans, Greek,
Chinese and Indus valley tribes for beauty, health and ritual purposes. Today we use aromatherapy for much the same purpose.
There are various means by which aromatherapy can be utilised, massage, being the most common. However inhilations
and compresses are commonly used especially in hospital situations. For example the aromatherapy oil spearmint is used for
nausea on a tissue for inhilation with patients undergoing chemotherapy for nausea.
About aromatherapy essential oils
These are extracted by various methods including steam distillation and maceration.
Each essential oil has a unique composition and each oil has its own unique properties and therapeutic
effects.
Essential oils are usually diluted in a base oil before use in massage.

About My massage.
My massage brings aromatherapy and physical therapy together. The treatment includes the use
of various shiatsu pressure points, deep neuromuscular massage and lymphatic drainage. Various other techniques are employed
including zonal massage, reflexology points on various parts of the body, marma points on the head as well as a scalp massage
and shiatsu/indian facelift massage and chakra balance.
Your treatment
Your first visit will always include a detailed consultation so that I may work out the best combination of
oils for maximum effect.
The massage takes around 90 minutes maybe a little longer dependant on your needs. A course of treatments
is usually advised somewhere between 3 and 12 treatments again dependant upon individuals needs.
You would then come for treatments as often as you felt necessary.
After the treatment you may experience what is known as the self healing process. This may include effects
such as a mild headache or tiredness being common. These minor effects usually clear up after a day or two.
Aromatherapy is suitable for most people, however some conditions may require a doctors permission.

Massage
My massage techniques are remedial techniques that mobilise joints and relax tense muscles. I use various
trigger points and pressure points. throughout the massage.
Although My usual massage is a strong massage I will vary the pressure according to clients needs.
Oils and balms are used as a medium.
